With a background as a qualified Music teacher in the formal education sector, Cat has experience in a variety of training and mentoring settings, including supervising trainee teachers, designing and delivering INSET training sessions, and consulting on specialist areas of curriculum development.

In 2011 Cat worked with Sing Up to facilitate their Vocal Force project in Oxfordshire, working with specialists to deliver INSET training sessions to a variety of SEN schools around the county. Since then she has qualified as a Makaton Tutor and specialises in training musicians to work with Makaton in Special Needs schools.

Other recent projects include developing and delivering 'Train the trainer' sessions with Sing Up and The Makaton Charity, to allow Makaton tutors to deliver 'Singing with Makaton' training; presenting a session on Inclusive Musical Practice to the national Folk Educators Group; opening the Inclusive Folk national conference, and delivering a session on using Makaton with Folk Song; and CPD training for music practitioners at Doncaster Community Arts for their 'We Speak Music' project.

"Cat worked very hard to make the course relevant and interesting for us."

"[Cat] is friendly and approachable and has inspired me to carry on over the next few weeks."

"Cat has supported the work of the school by spending time observing and then feeding back on examples of our teachers leading music sessions. She has also introduced a variety of resources and activities to assist the teaching... [and] led a session reviewing the aims of the music teaching in the school. As a direct result of Cat's input the teachers have broadened their range of resources they are using in their teaching... We have purchased equipment for computer technology based music, and the children are really enjoying the sessions we are running using this. We are currently in the process of reassessing the value of music to the children, and identifying the most important things that we want them to experience and learn out during the 3 years they are placed with us."
